ADHESIVE MATERIALS

Adhesive Materials

TC Components converts pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes and related adhesive materials into custom die-cut and laminated constructions for bonding, mounting, positioning and assembly applications.

MATERIAL OVERVIEW

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive Materials for Custom Components

An adhesive construction is part of the component design. The bonding surfaces, thickness, liner, layer structure and placement method all affect which material to review.

Industrial adhesive tape selection is project-specific. The material and die-cut geometry must work together in the finished assembly.

MATERIAL FAMILIES

Adhesive materials built into the part.

These are construction families to evaluate—not a fixed stock list. The specified grade, substrate and bonding behavior require project review.

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive Tape

Pressure sensitive adhesive tape, or PSA tape, may be converted into custom shapes for bonding, mounting and positioning without a separate liquid adhesive application during installation.

Adhesive Transfer Tape

Adhesive transfer tape provides an adhesive layer without a permanent carrier. A thin bonding construction may be reviewed where the assembly and handling method support it.

Carrier-supported double-sided adhesive sheets and die-cut mounting forms
03 / 05

Industrial Double-Sided Tape

Carrier-supported industrial double sided tape constructions can be evaluated for bonding and mounting where both contact surfaces and the layer structure are defined.

Acrylic Foam Tape

Acrylic foam tape may be considered when a thicker bonding layer or conformable mounting construction is specified. The grade and suitability depend on the application.

Adhesive-Backed Materials

Pressure-sensitive adhesive layers may be laminated to compatible foam, film, insulation, shielding or thermal materials before die cutting. The functional material and adhesive are reviewed as one construction.

MATERIAL SELECTION

Selecting an Adhesive Construction

Start with the assembly and the surfaces being bonded. Selection is a specification review, not a one-size-fits-all tape recommendation.

01

Substrate

What materials need to be bonded?

02

Surface Condition

Is each surface smooth, textured or irregular?

03

Thickness

How much build-up can the assembly accept?

04

Carrier Structure

Carrier-supported or transfer construction?

05

Assembly Method

How will the part be positioned and applied?

06

Environment

Which operating conditions must be considered?

07

Removal / Permanence

Is removable, repositionable or long-term behavior required?

CONSTRUCTION LOGIC

Carrier, Liner & Layer Structures

Not every adhesive tape uses the same stack. The material, liner, carrier and die-cut geometry are selected together for the intended assembly.

Carrier-Supported

  1. Release liner
  2. Adhesive layer
  3. Optional carrier
  4. Adhesive layer
  5. Release liner

Transfer or Material-Backed

  1. Release liner
  2. Transfer adhesive
  3. Functional material, where specified

LAMINATION / DIE CUTTING

Adhesive Lamination & Die Cutting

Pressure sensitive adhesive lamination and precision die cutting connect a selected material construction to the required finished shape.

FAQ

Adhesive material questions.

Practical answers for construction, converting and quotation planning.

What is pressure-sensitive adhesive tape?

It is an adhesive construction designed to bond under applied pressure. The tape form, carrier and liner vary, so the specific material is reviewed for each assembly.

What adhesive materials can be custom die cut?

Pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, transfer constructions, carrier-supported double-sided tapes, acrylic foam constructions and adhesive-backed functional materials may be evaluated for custom shapes.

What is the difference between transfer adhesive and double-sided tape?

A transfer construction has no permanent carrier, while a carrier-supported double-sided tape has an internal layer between its adhesive sides. The useful structure depends on the substrates, thickness and handling method.

Can adhesive be laminated to foam, film or insulation materials?

Compatible adhesive layers may be reviewed with foam, film or insulation materials before die cutting. The surfaces, construction and intended function must be confirmed for the project.

How do I choose an adhesive construction for my component?

Review the bonding substrates, surface condition, thickness, carrier or transfer structure, assembly method and operating environment. Required removal or long-term behavior should be stated as a project requirement.

Can custom adhesive components include release liners?

A liner can be part of the specified construction to support handling and placement. Its format is reviewed alongside the die-cut geometry and assembly method.

Can adhesive materials be laminated before die cutting?

Compatible adhesive and functional layers may be laminated before the final cut profile is made. The layer order and converting route are set by the project.

What information is needed for an adhesive material quotation?
